Pirates of the Caribbean Mickey Big Fig

     Pirate Mickey Mouse was released in honour of the Disney Theme Park Pirates of the Caribbean Attraction. This big fig is created especially for Walt Disney World and Disneyland under The Art of Disney Theme Parks. Mickey declares a treasure chest as his, although a sly crab is attempting to run off with the key. The sculpture is plussed with a moveable lock and handles on the chest, a faux velvet pirate hat and a real chain on the pirate's gold. The lantern also functions with a flickering light. A hidden mickey can be found on the base among the scattered gold coins. The bottom of the base reads "I want 50% of yer treasure, mate!" and is pre-signed by the artist, Costa Alavesos. Pirate Mickey can also be detached from the base for storage. This big fig stands 19" tall by 15.5" wide and can now only be found on the secondary market.

Definitive Minnie Mouse Big Figure

 

     This definitive Minnie Mouse big figure was designed by world-acclaimed artist, Peter Mook, in close collaboration with The Walt Disney Company. Each figure is individually cast using a mix of marble and resin dust. Minnie is meticulously hand painted with stunning detail and stands 18.5" tall. These sculptures are usually found in Europe and scarcely seen in North America.

Jack Skellington Big Figurine

     This Light Up Jack Skellington Big Figurine was designed by Disney Store sculpture artist Steve Thompson and released in 2007. Jack stands 18" tall and his head lights up with an on/off switch. This figurine captures the essence of Jack's personality with it's intricate sculpting and hand-painted details. The Nightmare Before Christmas Countdown Clock and this Jack Skellington Big Figurine bear similar packaging and components.

Original Donald Duck Big Figure

     Disney Big Figs have become some of the most elaborate and widely collected items amongst Disneyana collectors. Disney began manufacturing big figures in the states in 1999, with the first series being the Fab Five. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy each stand ontop of a base that displays the characters' names, which they can be removed from. Selling out quickly at Disneystores, they are now highly sought after by collectors on the secondary market.

     Donald Duck made his first appearance in a Disney Silly Symphonies Cartoon - The Wise Little Hen - in 1934. This original big figure of Donald is a depiction 1934 image, hand painted with a vintage style for full effect. Donald and the base are both made out of resin and the tally on his sailor's hat is velour. The base reads his name with a small gold plaque that says "1934" on the front and the stamp on the bottom of the base says " Limited to the production year of 1999". He is extremely heavy, especially with the base and stands at about 2 ft. in height.

Dark Horse Uncle Scrooge Series 2 & Vintage Disney Display Statue

     Finally, we have received The first issue in the second series of Dark Horse Deluxe Uncle Scrooge Figures; Uncle Scrooge "Klondike Statue". This one specifically depicts the famous Carl Barks' "Back to the Klondike" Scrooge comic. The quality is of this piece is superb! It is a great start to what should be an amazing series! The next piece to be released in the set is Donald Duck, we will post a review as soon as he is released.

     In honour of the release of the Second Series of the Dark Horse Deluxe Scrooge figures, we wanted to post one of our more elaborate Scrooge pieces, Uncle Scrooge holding his legendary #1 dime. We do not know very much about this piece, aside from the fact that it is a vintage Disney Display statue. The figure measure 17 inches in height and has nice weight to it. I believe it is made out of some type of paper mache-resin material. Scrooge's glasses have real glass lens and metal frames. We have also read that these figures, made overseas in the phillipines, were some of the original big figures produced. If you have any more information on the statue please leave us a message as it would be greatly appreciated!
